A leading mall in the UAE has introduced WeChat Pay as an option to attract more customers from China.
Mall of the Emirates in Dubai is a multilevel mall with more than 630 retail outlets, over 100 restaurants, family leisure activities and over 7000+ parking spaces. It houses the Dubai Community Theatre and Arts Centre and of its outlets, 80 are luxury and 250 are flagship stores.
Retailers at the mall can now accept purchases through the WeChat Pay app. Since tourism from China has increased due to a growing middle class, it is hoped this will help the mall remain competitive among visitors to the region.
Fuad Mansoor Sharaf, Managing Director of Majid Al Futtaim Properties – Shopping Malls (UAE, Bahrain & Oman), said: “In this age of connectivity, we are continually diversifying our services to make it convenient for shoppers to access all that we have at the click of a button. To own a verified WeChat official account allows us to be closer to our valued Chinese customers who use this social network to get all the information.
“Having this e-wallet feature at the mall is a significant step in enhancing our Chinese visitors’ experience and creating great moments whenever they visit. They can also take advantage of customised services and a wide range of choice, from the best hotels to family leisure options all in one place.”
It has been reported that visitor numbers from China to Dubai have more than doubled in the past five years.
